Belgian luxury knitwear label Wehve was nominated for the “Les Meilleurs de l’année 2017” prize in the “fashion” category of the “C’est du Belge” talent contest, organized by the RTBF and Paris Match editors. A special broadcast on ‘la Une’ will take place on February 2nd at 20.20h on the final winners.
“Wehve” is a reference to the process of “weaving” on hand looms—this traditional, artisanal process has been passed down through the ages from one group of women to the next. And now, it comes to you from the hands of a select group of women’s collectives throughout South America. The process of combining fine organically raised and harvested merino wool with silks and linens is both delicate and demanding—emblematic of both the femininity and the resilient spirit of the women whose hands have created the fabric for WEHVE.
This marriage of traditional craftsmanship with wearable contemporary European styling creates garments that are elegant, exceptionally soft and luxuriously comfortable.
WEHVE pursues a clear two-part credo: first, the preservation of the profound knowledge passed down through ancestral traditions and second, to share this magnificent tradition of weaving by translating them for a modern audience through pure classic designs.
In early 2018, «C’est du Belge» launches the 3rd edition of the «Les meilleurs de l’année 2017» prize. Since its inception, 13 years ago, this competition supports Belgian talents. There are 7 different domains that are distinguished in this competition with 4 nominees per category: fashion, jewelry, deco & design, classical music, gastronomy & food, cinema & fiction. In the fashion category – in addition to Wehve – the following 3 Belgian brands have also been nominated: Ilke Cop, Bonjour Maurice and MLSTUDIO
